Basic Requirements

Foster Care
You may be asked to provide temporary care, love, and nurturance to a child or serve as a mentor actively helping parents improve their ability to safely care for their children.

  • Single or married individuals

  • Must be 21 years of age

  • Have the ability to love, understand, and accept a child whom they did not give birth

  • Applicant and each household member 18 years or older must be willing to submit to a search of all Oklahoma Human Services child welfare history and criminal background records

  • Have sufficient income to meet household expenditures

  • Have sufficient bedroom and space to accommodate additional child/children

  • Be a legal resident

  • Willing to attend 27 hours of resource family training
